Merge of Athletic FC and Athletic FC United
The merge of Athletic FC and AFC United aims to unite the representative teams of both clubs in the first division and to gather their activities under the same roof, which leads to a greater number of young players receiving the opportunity to play senior division 1 football with the earlier, more experienced core of AFC United.
The name Athletic FC United will remain but a decision has been made to move the clubs base to the municipality of Solna, home of Athletic FC since 2007. All future league games will therefore be played here, as opposed to our old home Upplands Väsby.
The reason for merging the clubs is found within the recent regulatory changes and termination of the minor club system, which made the transfer of players between cooperative clubs significantly more complicated and rendered our players unable to combine youth football with participation in division 1 games.
The move to Solna was based on Athletics good relation with the municipality that also has contributed to the football in Sweden greatly.
As our club has now earned a place in Juniorallsvenskan, the highest swedish youth division, this will now be our prelude and final step for youths prior to entering the senior football in the first division.
We look forward to meeting our new neighbours - Vasalund and AIK, one of the top contenders in swedish football,

English internationell footballer on visit to AFC
Guess who is coming to train with us in AFC? Hint: He spent 10 years alongside Ulrika Jonsson hosting English TV show Gladiators.
In reality, today was a very special day for us as we had the pleasure to receive our guest John Fashanu, an international footballer who made over 2000 appearances in top english clubs such as Wimbledon, Aston Villa and Milwall. During his career, John also played for the English national football team.
Aside from being the host of Gladiators, John was appointed a UNICEF ambassador for Africa and the Coca Cola face of Nigeria 1995. He has been the chairman of the Nigerian Football Association and was named the 279th most influential person in Britian in 2002.
During Johns stay we introduced him to our club and academy and he even took his time to train with some of our teams who certainly left him with good impression.
We feel privileged to having received this opportunity and look forward to build on our partnership further.
Rinor Nushi signs for West Ham
Swedish super talent Rinor Nushi, 17, leaves AFC United for West Ham United F.C. "It's a surreal feeling", he tells fotbollstransfers.com.
It is Athletic FC, cooperative club to AFC United, that releases their coveted talent Rinor Nushi to West Ham.
- Nori was extremely satisfied during his trials in West Ham, so the choice was clear. Keeping him in AFC United was hardly an alterantive considering his enormous talent, Athletic FC:s sporting director Hamid Kabodvand says.
West Ham also convey their plans to start cooperating with AFC Academy.
- We keep our eyes open at AFC Academy and will initiate a cooperation where promising players will be offered to tryout with our club, he tells us.
When fotbollstransfers.com manages to reach Rinor Nushi he replies:
- It feels completely unreal. I've been dreaming about this since I started my career. I hope to be able to get a hang of it all soon.
- I want to thank Hamid for all the amazing years during which he trained and developed me. I wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for him. I also want to thank Athletic FC:s president Alex Ryssholm who has helped me tremendously, both economically and on the pitch. He was like a father for me.
What attracted you to West Ham?
- Everything was perfect when I visited them. The players were nice, the facilities perfect - the grass, buildings, everything. I got on very well after the first few days.
Rinor Nushi moves to London on Sunday.
